Wood Rot doctor Pty Ltd was established as an initiative by Howard Thomson, formerly joint owner of Thomson White Australia Pty Ltd. Through this organisation, Howard established their leadership in the specialist Woodcare products used to enhance and prolong the life of timber structures.
It is well accepted by all relevant authorities and industry groups throughout Australia that wood decay is a major problem that can, and has, affected the structural
and cosmetic integrity of buildings, including private homes. An estimated 6 million dwellings suffer varying degrees of wood rot in Australia.
Wood Rot Doctor operates with a team of highly trained and knowledgeable experts. Until now, there has not been a specialist group offering a service of this type.
Howard has been involved in the construction chemical industry for many years and has held senior positions in International companies within this industry. Having sold his business to an International Company , he will now devote his substantial expertise to growing the Wood Rot Doctor business with the end objective of expansion Australia wide through franchising.
He has been joined by Barry Tanner, the sole Director of Barry Tanner & Associates Pty Ltd, as a Director of Wood Rot Doctor Pty Ltd. Barry is a respected
commercial builder. His company is the most prominent specialist waterproofing contractor operating in Victoria. Barry holds a Degree in Building , is a qualified carpenter and
a Registered Building Practitioner.
Chris McEvoy of Preschem Pty Ltd is also part of Wood Rot Doctor Pty Ltd. Chris was co-founder with Chen-Woo Chin of Preschem Pty Ltd in 1987. Both are former CSIRO scientists who combined scientific, technical and industrial expertise in the field of wood preservation. They have published numerous technical papers in Australia and overseas on the subject.
Mike Iley was the Australian Manager of Protim Australia for many years. Protim had it’s origins in the UK and was responsible for the introduction of L.O.S.P. (Light Organic Solvent Preservative) for use on external joinery and internal timber framing, to prevent decay and insect attack.
Mike has also served as a councilor and on the technical committee of the TPAA (Timber Preservers Association of Australia) for over 15 years.
